This wonderfully vivacious family recently relocated from Cincinnati to Indianapolis and purchased a mid-1980’s, traditional home in an upscale lakefront neighborhood. While the bones of the floor plan were in place, the living areas of the main floor lacked architectural details and less than desirable “builder grade” finishes. The clients requested that the design team facelift the kitchen, furnish their breakfast nook and family room, and enliven their powder and children’s bathrooms, reflecting their lifestyle and desires. The Designers developed a plan that included stripping out original wallpaper in the bathrooms, specifying new granite countertops and commercial plumbing products in the kitchen with a custom designed tile backsplash, crown moulding, under-cabinet and over-head lighting package, door and cabinet hardware packages, selection of new family room carpeting, breakfast nook and eat-at bar furniture, custom cornices and silk drapery window treatments, and a beautifully warm color palette. Drawing on the family’s Mediterranean heritage for inspiration, the execution of the final product reveals a distinctly updated Tuscan design influence that showcases the family’s vitality and features original artwork, custom hand-made floral arrangements and imported Italian ceramic stoneware.
