Lighten, brighten and uplift a dark and dated wood paneled library and adjacent powder bath was the primary request from the homeowner of this large luxury home in one of Carmel, Indiana’s most prestigious neighborhoods. Secondary requests included a freshing of the main floor color palette, removal of the dated dining room carpeting and replacement of the master bedroom writing desk. Our in-depth survey and discussions revealed the client's love of tropical touches and a passion for the color green. In the library, the designers prescribed the removal and replacement of existing hunter green carpeting with gorgeous Brazilian Walnut solid hardwood flooring that seamlessly appear original to the home. Old, outdated wallpaper was stripped and all interior walls were coated with a lusciously neutral color palette. The powder bath wallpaper was also stripped and received a new hand applied linen-textured wall treatment and new tropical artwork. Layered on top of these new backdrops are custom handmade upholstered furniture, custom shutters and custom silk draperies, beautiful new casegoods mixed with the client's existing casegoods, a stunning hand-loomed top quality Turkish area rug, new commissioned artwork over the fireplace by a renowed artist and accessories to create a truly luxurious library space for the family to research, read and relax.
